The Best Part

The best part about a blue sucker is turning your tongue blue.

The best part about hanging out with your cousin is having a long conversation about the bugs in the hole with someone who's actually interested.

The best part about a walk in the woods is finding a wild apple tree with your cousin and spitting apple peels on the ground together.

The best part about a big cousin is that he'll let you sit on the riding lawn mower with him.

The best part about getting a new microwave is the box!

The best part about cousins who can swim is having someone to play in the water with, even if you're not quite brave enough to go on your own.

One of Cameron's favourite things to do is to play video games with a grown-up ("grown-up" being anyone over the age of four, really). Usually, the "grown-up" gets to play games that Cameron chooses, but sometimes he'll consent to letting someone else pick the game. Especially when it's a really good game, like The Incredible Hulk. That game is a bit on the violent side for a three-year old, but it was a special treat and his Daddy was playing it with him.

Cameron was having a turn with the controller, and the object of the game was to destroy stuff by throwing other stuff at it. Every time Cameron destroyed a target, Daddy would say: "Good throw! You squashed it into a flat pancake!" Cameron would quite seriously reply: "Chef Hulk."

We were in a store one day and Cameron spotted a stuffed sheep wearing a little wool cap. As we were checking it out, I asked if he thought that our cats would like their own hats. He enthusiastically agreed that yes, the cats would like little hats, too. I asked if he really though that our cats would wear hats. He pondered this for a minute, and offered: "Well, I'll hold them down!"

Cameron went out for lunch with Amma at a buffet, and came home to tell me all about how they ate at a buffalo.
